Some journeys don’t begin with plans. They begin with love. A few years ago, I didn’t set out to build a foster home. I was just a student who couldn’t look away when an animal needed help. What started as adoption coordination slowly turned into fostering cats, without a roadmap — only two intentions: to give a safe, warm place to community animals and pets, and to somehow sustain my rescues while managing my own survival as a student. As I went deeper into fostering, I saw a reality that broke my heart — how commercial this space has become, how often money comes before life. That’s when I made a promise to myself. Fostering with Chingi will always be a first home for community animals. Affordable. Honest. Ethical. No shortcuts. No compromises when it comes to health, care, or dignity. Through every rescue, every breakdown, every sleepless night — Chingi has been my constant. My strength. My reminder of why I started. This journey was never mine alone. My mother, opening her home again and again without questions. My father, travelling from our village to the city just to pick up my cats when rescues overflowed. My friend Neeraj and my sister, caring for my cats and dogs while I ran around coordinating rescues. And my best friend Swaroop, quietly holding everything together behind the scenes — editing, creating, pushing me forward when I was exhausted. This would have never been possible alone. Today, as we move into a bigger space, my heart feels fuller than ever. This isn’t just a foster home. It’s a promise. A safe space.
